KOMPAKT is a multifunctional piece of furniture. It seeks to serve not only as a coffee table, but also as an storage area to keep your belongings in a safe place and ready to be accessed in an easy way. Nowadays space is more valued than ever, and people are looking for pieces that not only look good on their homes, but respond to their everyday activities.
This table is thought for a consumer who lives in a compact space, in which the area is probably not enough to have a living room and a working area. KOMPAKT offers a clean and simple style that can fit into any home to enjoy a coffee with friends and is ready to get the work flowing when needed.
Project developed during exchange semester at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (HiOA) with Annina Spies, Elias Dahl and Lars Kvinnesland.
The table features two different compartments with table tops that slide smoothly in both directions, to allow access to objects from both sides and two small fixed tops at the sides.
PROCESS
Pictures from prototypes made in ----- to test dimensions ( length, width and depth) and the moving mechanisms from the tabletops.
Color and material tests were done, in order to find the best combination, the final decision was to use ---- wood and with paint, in order to keep a simple but appealing appearance.
